Carson-Newman, Wingate and Catawba Women's Basketball all Advance to NCAA DII Southeast Regional
ROCK HILL, S.C. (TheSAC.com) – Three South Atlantic Conference women's basketball teams will continue their season after earning bids to the NCAA Division II Southeast Regional. Carson-Newman, Wingate, and Catawba earned spots, with the Bulldogs taking the higher seed of three at No. 4.
The Eagles (26--5, 20-4 SAC) are sitting at No. 5 in the Women's Basketball NCAA southeast region poll after wrapping up their 2021-22 season. Carson-Newman collected the SAC Tournament Championship title earlier this evening in an 83-58 win over Anderson. The Eagles have earned an automatic bid with the win and will take on No. 4 Wingate in the first round of play.
The Bulldogs (24-5, 21-3 SAC) take the No. 4 seed in the southeast after earning the SAC Regular Season title and making an appearance in the SAC semifinal game vs. Anderson. The Bulldogs are set to take on the No. 5 Carson-Newman this Friday.
The Catawba Indians (19-5, 23-6 SAC) are No. 7 in the region after falling out of the conference tournament in the semifinals and will take on the No. 2 seed Lander
North Georgia was named the No. 1 seed in the Southeast Region and will host the first rounds.
Eight eight-team regionals will be played at on-campus sites March 11, 12 and 14. The eight regional champions advancing to the Women's Elite Eight will be seeded by the Women's Basketball Committee after completion of the regionals. The 2022 NCAA Division II Women's Elite Eight will be held at the Birmingham CrossPlex in Birmingham, Alabama, March 21, 23 and 25.

The winners of each of the eight regionals will advance to the 2022 NCAA Division II Women's Elite Eight, which will be held at Birmingham Crossplex in Birmingham, AL.
