St. Joseph, MO – Catawba women's basketball ended their historic run as they fell to No. 2 Minnesota Duluth 70-59 on Wednesday night. Despite the loss, the Catawba Indians recorded their best season in program history as they became the first South Atlantic Conference team to win a game at the NCAA Division II Women's Basketball Elite Eight and advance to the Final Four.
Janiya Downs led the scoring for Catawba with 20 points, while Sara McIntosh recorded nine points and eight rebounds and Lyrik Thorne added 11 points. WBCA National Player of the Year Brooke Olson was the top scorer of the night with 34 points and 10 rebounds for the Bulldogs.
Catawba ends their season at 29-6 while Minnesota Duluth improves to 32-3.
