Anderson Advances to National Championship with Wins over Findlay and Wingate

ROCK HILL, S.C. (TheSAC.com) – Anderson advanced to the NCAA Division II Women's Golf National Championship match on Friday at PGA National Resort in Palm Beach Gardens, Fla., earning a pair of match-play victories over Findlay and Wingate.

The Trojans opened match play with a 4-1 quarterfinal victory over Findlay. Kennedy Gooding earned a 3UP win over Hayley Dye, while Olivia Roberts delivered a dominant 6UP victory against Gracie James. Aly Francis also picked up a point with a 2UP win over Emma Myers as Anderson secured its place in the semifinals.

In the semifinals, Anderson edged SAC rival Wingate, 3-2, to advance to the national championship match. Gooding continued her strong play with a 2UP victory over Olivia Meinecke, while Olivia Pellerin posted a 4UP win against Thalia Perez Vieco. Francis secured the deciding point for the Trojans with a 1UP win over Jackie Gonzalez Howard. Wingate's Lauren Sutcliffe earned a 3UP victory against Olivia Roberts, while Amely Bochaton defeated Paige Paolucci 8UP for the Bulldogs' two points.

Wingate advanced to the semifinals earlier in the day with a 4-1 win over Missouri-St. Louis. Sutcliffe earned a 1UP victory over Hillary Currier, while Bochaton defeated Mayan Covarrubias 6UP. Gonzalez Howard also contributed a point for the Bulldogs with a 5UP win against Emely Wahl. 

Anderson will advance to take on Dallas Baptist tomorrow morning in the national championship which tees off at 9 a.m.
