The South Atlantic Conference Announces AstroTurf SAC Women's Lacrosse Players of the Week, March 21
ROCK HILL, S.C. (TheSAC.com) – Wingate's Brittany Andrews was tabbed the Astroturf South Atlantic Conference Women's Lacrosse Offensive Player of the Week, while teammate Arion Pierre was named the Astroturf South Atlantic Conference Women's Lacrosse Defensive Player of the Week for games played March 14-20, the League announced today.
Andrews, a junior from Bel Air, Md., scored 11 goals, posted four ground balls and caused a turnover to lead the Bulldogs to a 2-0 record last week, including a win over SAC foe Lincoln Memorial. Against Lees-McRae on March 16, the attacker found the back of the net seven times to go along with two ground balls and one caused turnover in a 13-8 win. She put eight of her shots on frame in the victory. She followed that effort with four tallies and two ground balls as Wingate defeated the Railsplitters 15-6 on March 19. In the two-game span, Andrews finished with a shots on goal percentage of 85 percent as she connected on 55 percent of her tries. The award is her first Offensive Player of the Week nod this season.
Pierre, a freshman for Haymarket, Va., collected 18 saves and finished with a save percentage of 67 percent in Wingate's two wins last week. She recorded 10 saves in the victory over Lees-McRae and posted eight saves against Lincoln Memorial. In the contest vs. the Railsplitters, Peirre turned away 89 percent of Lincoln Memorial's shots. The award is her second Defensive Player of the Week honor this season.
