The South Atlantic Conference Announces AstroTurf SAC Women's Lacrosse Players of the Week, March 29

ROCK HILL, S.C. (TheSAC.com) – Wingate's Paulena Dempsy was tabbed the Astroturf South Atlantic Conference Women's Lacrosse Offensive Player of the Week, while Bethany Davis of Catawba was named the Astroturf South Atlantic Conference Women's Lacrosse Defensive Player of the Week for games played March 21-27, the League announced today.

Dempsey, a junior from Jarrettsville, Md., tallied six scores and posted seven assists to lead Wingate to a pair of wins last week, including a win over SAC foe Coker.  Against Savannah College of Art and Design on March 23, the midfielder posted five goals and assisted on two others as Wingate picked up a 17-15 win.  Three days later at Coker, Dempsey scored one goal and posted five assists to go along with three ground balls and three caused turnovers in a 15-8 win over the Cobras.  Dempsey scored on 67 percent of her shots in the two-game span.  The award is her second Offensive Player of the Week nod this season.

Davis, a senior from Salisbury, Md., recorded eight saves to help the Catawba Indians to a 15-7 win over SAC foe Tusculum on March 26.  She finished the contest with a save percentage of 53.3 as she picked up her first Defensive Player of the Week plaudit this season.
