The South Atlantic Conference Announces AstroTurf SAC Women's Lacrosse Players of the Week, April 4
ROCK HILL, S.C. (TheSAC.com) – Brevard's Caitlyn Nemeth was tabbed the Astroturf South Atlantic Conference Women's Lacrosse Offensive Player of the Week, while teammate Amber Breedy was named the Astroturf South Atlantic Conference Women's Lacrosse Defensive Player of the Week for games played March 28-April 4, the League announced today.
Nemeth, a sophomore from Old Bridge, N.J., scored 19 goals and posted two assists to lead the Tornados a 2-1 record in South Atlantic Conference play last week. She got her week started with four goals, five draw controls and one ground ball against Lenoir-Rhyne on March 28. Two days later at Newberry, the forward scored seven goals and dished out one assist in a 16-10 win over Newberry. She also added four draw controls and scooped up a ground ball in the win. She finished her week with eight goals, one helper, two caused turnovers, three draw controls and a pair of ground balls as Brevard defeated Lincoln Memorial 11-10 on April 3. She put 78 percent of her shots on frame in the three-game span and posted the game-winner in both of Brevard's wins. The honor is her third Offensive Player of the Week plaudit this season.
Breedy, a freshman for Webster, N.Y., caused five turnovers for the Tornados last week. She caused four turnovers and posted three ground balls against Lenoir-Rhyne and followed that effort with one draw control and one ground ball in the win over Newberry. Against Lincoln Memorial she caused a turnover and notched a pair of ground balls. The award is her first Defensive Player of the Week nod this season.
