The South Atlantic Conference Announces 2022 SAC Women's Lacrosse Championship Seedings
ROCK HILL, S.C. (TheSAC.com) – Queens has won the 2022 South Atlantic Conference Regular Season Championship title for the second year in a row as they closed out the season with perfect 10-0 record in conference play and an overall record of 17-0. With the title, the Royals have earned the No. 1 seed in next week's South Atlantic Conference Women's Lacrosse Championship. The Royals are currently ranked No. 1 in all of DII Women's Lacrosse.
Wingate earned the No. 2 seed with a near perfect record of 9-1 in SAC action, while Limestone took home the No. 3 seed with an 8-2 conference record. Lenoir-Rhyne earned the No. 4 seed after closing out the season at 6-4 in conference play. With a 6-4 record as well and taking the No. 5 seed is Lincoln Memorial and rounding out the field of six will be Newberry at No. 6 after finishing the season with a record of 4-6 in conference.
Lenoir-Rhyne wins the No. 4 seed after beating Lincoln Memorial in a head-to-head scenario earlier this season.
Newberry wins the tiebreaker over Catawba and UVA Wise. The teams are all 1-1 head-to-head and all three are 0-1 vs. Queens, Limestone, and Wingate. However, Newberry is 1-0 vs. Lenoir-Rhyne, and Catawba and UVA Wise are 0-1. With this Newberry will take the No. 6 seed in the tournament.
Queens and Wingate each earned a bye to the semifinals. The quarterfinals will be played on Tuesday, April 26 at campus sites with the semifinals and finals taking place at Moretz Stadium in Hickory, N.C. on April 29 and May 1. The tournament schedule is listed below:
