Lenoir-Rhyne's Campbell and Catawba's Shaffer Earn South Atlantic Conference Varsity Gems Women's Lacrosse Players of the Week Awards

ROCK HILL, S.C. (TheSAC.com) – The South Atlantic Conference announced its Varsity Gems Women's Lacrosse Players of the Week for games played in the third week of the 2023 season. Lenoir-Rhyne's Ellie Campbell was named the offensive player of the week, while Catawba's Madison Shaffer was named the defensive player of the week.  

Campbell, a junior midfielder from Pinehurst, N.C., led the Bears with four goals and added an assist in the 14-11 victory over Montevallo. She piled up five points, one ground ball, a draw control, and a caused turnover. 

Shaffer, a sophomore defender/ midfielder from Knoxville, MD, led a Catawba defense that limited Lees-McRae to just four goals in Saturday's win. She piled up four caused turnovers, a game-high seven draw controls and three ground balls.
