Anderson's Cannon and Newberry's Dorr Earn South Atlantic Conference Varsity Gems Women's Lacrosse Players of the Week Awards

ROCK HILL, S.C. (TheSAC.com) – The South Atlantic Conference announced its Varsity Gems Women's Lacrosse Players of the Week for games played in the fourth week of the 2023 season. Anderson's Alicia Cannon was named the offensive player of the week, while Newberry's Mackenzie Dorr was named the defensive player of the week.  

Cannon, a freshman attacker from Tarzana, Calif., won 10 draw controls and had six goals and two assists in Saturday's 22-2 win over Chowan. Overall, she had seven goals, two assists, one ground ball, one turnover and won 11 draw controls for the week.

Dorr, a sophomore goalie from Riverhead, N.Y., held opponents to 10 goals a game while in goal. She saved nine shots in a 14-11 win over Limestone, and she followed up with 10 saves against Barton College on February 25.
