T-C's Outen, Henderson Named to Women's Soccer All-Region Team
MISSION, Kan. For the third consecutive year, the Tusculum College women's soccer team had two members named to the NSCAA/adidas NCAA Division II Women's Soccer All-Southeast Region Team. Senior defender Courtney Outen (Baltimore, Md.) and junior midfielder Tara Henderson (Norwood, Ohio), both All-Region honorees a season ago, were selected to the second team.
Outen, a three-time All-South Atlantic Conference performer, started 84 matches in her career. She helped turn the Tusculum defense into one of the nation's best, with the 2001 team ranking fifth in the nation in goals against average (0.54) and ninth in shutout percentage (0.62). During her tenure with the Pioneers, TC set a new school record for team goals against average in successive seasons and shutout 39 opponents.
Henderson has the distinction of being the first Tusculum women's player to be named All-American. The Pioneers have claimed SAC Regular Season titles in each of her three seasons and last year she accounted for five goals and two assists. She has also been selected to three straight All-SAC teams and in 2001 was the SAC Tournament Most Valuable Player.
