Newberry’s Inga Woiwode named Women’s Soccer Player of the Week
ROCK HILL, S.C. - Inga Woiwode of Newbery College has been named the South Atlantic Conference Women's Soccer Player of the Week announced league officials Tuesday.
Woiwode, a 5-8 junior from El Paso, Texas, accounted for all the goal production for the Lady Indians during the week as Newberry defeated USC Upstate 2-1 and tied No. 20 Catawba College 1-1.
In the USC Upstate match, the Irvin High School graduate tied
the match in the 63rd minute and recorded the match-winner 12
minutes later to defeat the Spartans.
Woiwode knocked home a penalty kick in the 16th minute in Newberry's 1-1 draw with Catawba. The draw marks the first time in Newberry history that the Lady Indians posted a positive result against a nationally-ranked team.
The SAC Women's Soccer Player of the Week is selected by a vote of the league's sports information directors.
