Tusculum’s Whitney Wardrop named Women’s Soccer Player of the Week
ROCK HILL, S.C. - Tusculum keeper Whitney Wardrop has been named the SAC Player Of the Week in guiding her team to two victories this past week.
Wardrop recorded a pair of shutouts last week as fourth-ranked Tusculum went 2-0. Wardrop recorded three saves in Tusculum's 1-0 South Atlantic Conference win over Lenoir-Rhyne. She posted another clean-sheet in the Pioneers' 1-0 victory over Armstrong Atlantic State University (No. 4 in NCAA Southeast Region). Against AASU, the Calgary, Alberta, Canada native tallied nine saves.
Wardrop, the 2005 Food Lion SAC Tournament Most Valuable Player, has recorded three consecutive shutouts and seven on the season. She hasn't allowed a goal in almost 300 straight minutes.
The SAC Women's Soccer Player of the Week is selected by a vote of the league's sports information directors.
