Newberry’s Danielle Beckerle Named Women’s Soccer Player Of The Week
ROCK HILL, S.C. - Newberry College's Danielle Beckerle was named the SAC Women's Soccer Player of the Week, conference officials announced today.
Beckerle, a 5-7 senior goal keeper from St. Louis, MO (Ursuline Academy HS) played a strong week in goal giving up just one score in two games. The senior improved her goals against average for the season to.512 against Division II opponents. She has recorded two shutouts, four one-goal games and was forced to leave the shutout against Lincoln Memorial University due to injury with just four minutes left.
Beckerle held Brevard scoreless through the first 85 minutes of
the contest.
The Tornados managed to get one past the senior goalkeeper in the
86th minute off a point blank shot two yards out to make the final
score 10-1.
Beckerle earned her second shutout of the season against Wingate to help and preserve Newberry's undefeated record in both conference play and Division II.
The SAC Player of the Week is determined by a vote of the sports information directors of the league.
