The South Atlantic Conference Announces AstroTurf SAC Women’s Soccer Player of the Week, Sept. 21
ROCK HILL, S.C. (TheSAC.com) – Carson-Newman forward Julianne Herrity has been named the AstroTurf South Atlantic Conference Women's Soccer Player of the Week for games played Sept. 14-20, the League announced today.
Herrity, a junior from Donegal, Ireland posted three goals on the week and helped the Eagles to their first 2-0 start in League play since 2009 as they defeated then No. 13 Lenoir-Rhyne and followed with a win over Newberry. She scored both of Carson-Newman's game winning goals, including one in double OT at the 103rd minute against the Bears. Against Newberry, both of her goals came during the second half. Her first goal of the contest was at the 49th minute to give the Eagles a 2-0 lead. The Wolves then evened the score at 2-2. In the 73rd minute, Herrity took an Elissa Lane assist and buried the game-winner in the back of the net to lift Carson-Newman to the 3-2 win. On the week, Herrity garnered six points and tallied nine shots. The award marks her first Player of the Week plaudit this season.
