The South Atlantic Conference Announces Seeds for the 2016 SAC Women's Soccer Championship
ROCK HILL, S.C. (TheSAC.com) – Lenoir-Rhyne, Carson-Newman and Tusculum finished the season with 8-2-1 records and 25 points in South Atlantic Conference play to finish in a three-way tie for the 2016 South Atlantic Conference Women's Soccer Championship, as Conference play concluded this afternoon. The scenario marks the first time in SAC history that the League has had Tri-Champions in Women's Soccer. The Bears earned the No.1 seed in the upcoming South Atlantic Conference Women's Soccer Championship as it broke the tie with its four points won against Carson-Newman and Tusculum.
The Eagles defeated the Pioneers during the regular season to earn the No. 2 seed, with Tusculum picking up the No. 3 position. Queens and Wingate turned in identical 8-3 records and 24 points in South Atlantic Conference play. The Royals downed the Bulldogs during the regular season and will be the No. 4 seed, leaving Wingate at No. 5. Anderson posted a 6-4-1 record with 19 points in the League to earn the No. 6 seed and at the No. 7 slot was Catawba as it posted a 5-4-2 record and 17 points in Conference action. Newberry rounded out the bracket at the No. 8 position with its 4-6-1 South Atlantic Conference record for 13 points.
The 2016 South Atlantic Conference Women's Soccer Championship quarterfinals will be played at campus sites on Tuesday, Nov. 1 before moving to Manchester Meadows in Rock Hill, S.C. for the semifinals and finals on Nov. 4 and 6. The South Atlantic Conference's Tournament champion receives an automatic bid to the NCAA women's Soccer Tournament. The Conference Championship schedule is as follows:
