The South Atlantic Conference Announces Seeds for the 2017 SAC Women's Soccer Championship
ROCK HILL, S.C. (TheSAC.com) – Carson-Newman won its third-straight South Atlantic Conference Regular Season Championship as Conference play concluded this afternoon. The Eagles finished the regular season unbeaten in the League at 9-0-1 to collect 28 points and earn the No.1 seed in the upcoming South Atlantic Conference Women's Soccer Championship.
Wingate and Queens turned in identical 8-2 SAC records and 24 points. The Bulldogs downed the Royals during the regular season to break the tie and pick up the No. 2 seed as Queens landed in the No. 3 slot. At the No. 4 position was Tusculum with its 7-3 League mark and 21 points. Lenoir-Rhyne's 6-3-1 Conference record and 19 points was good for the No. 5 position, while Anderson landed at No. 6 as it closed out the SAC season at 5-5 for 15 points. Catawba posted a 4-6 League record and 12 points to come in at No. 7 and Newberry rounded out the seeds at No. 8 with its 3-7 SAC record and nine points.
The 2017 South Atlantic Conference Women's Soccer Championship quarterfinals will be played at campus sites on Tuesday, Oct. 31 before moving to Manchester Meadows in Rock Hill, S.C. for the semifinals and finals on Nov. 3 and 5. The South Atlantic Conference's Tournament champion receives an automatic bid to the NCAA women's Soccer Tournament. The Conference Championship schedule is as follows:
