Three South Atlantic Conference Teams Appear in United Soccer Coaches Women's Regional Rankings
ROCK HILL, S.C. (TheSAC.com) – The United Soccer Coaches announced its fourth week of Division II women's soccer regional rankings on Tuesday (Sept. 25), with three teams representing the SAC in the southeast.
Leading the SAC teams is Carson-Newman at No. 15 nationally and No. 2 in the region. The Eagles faced SAC opponents Lincoln Memorial and Coker, coming away with two wins, 5-2 and 7-0, respectively. Newly-minted SAC AstroTurf Offensive Player of the Week Magda Mosengo led the way with five goals, including a hat trick, and an assist in the team's successful week.
Making an appearance at No. 8 is Lenoir-Rhyne. Also picking up two conference victories, the Bears racked up the goals, defeating Mars Hill 4-2 and Newberry 5-1. Abbie Brown was on an offensive tear, compiling four goals and two assists, including a trio at Newberry.
Rounding out the week four poll is Wingate. The Bulldogs shutout the previously regionally-ranked Tusculum Pioneers by a score of 2-0. Current SAC AstroTurf Defensive Player of the Week Chandler Hendrix led the defense that only allowed two shots on goal in the contest, with the first coming in the 82nd minute.
South Atlantic Conference action will continue tomorrow, Wednesday, September 26.
