Three South Atlantic Conference Teams Sit in United Soccer Coaches Women's Regional Rankings
ROCK HILL, S.C. (TheSAC.com) – The United Soccer Coaches announced its eighth week of Division II women's soccer regional rankings on Tuesday (Oct. 23), with three teams continuing to represent the SAC in the southeast.
Leading the SAC teams and staying steady at No. 3 in the region and No. 20 nationally is Carson-Newman. The Eagles defeated two conference teams on the week, Mars Hill 4-1 and Wingate 3-0. All seven goals came from different players in their balanced attack.
At No. 9 is Catawba. The Catawba Indians split their conference action during the week, dropping the contest with Lenoir-Rhyne 4-1 and shutting out Anderson 3-0. Senior goalkeeper Shelby Thompson earned her sixth shutout of the season on Senior Day.
Holding firm at No. 10 for the second week is Lincoln Memorial. The Railsplitters also had an even 1-1 week, losing 1-0 to Tusculum in overtime and five goals in the shutout versus Coker. Jessica Cravero played a role in every score, netting three goals and assisting on the remaining two.
South Atlantic Conference action will continue tomorrow, Wednesday, October 24.
