Three South Atlantic Conference Teams Emerge in United Soccer Coaches Women's Regional Rankings
ROCK HILL, S.C. (TheSAC.com) – The United Soccer Coaches announced its ninth week of Division II women's soccer regional rankings on Tuesday (Oct. 30), with three teams representing the SAC in the southeast.
Moving up to No. 2 in the region and No. 16 nationally is Carson-Newman. The Eagles downed nationally-ranked Limestone in a 1-0 overtime battle. Carson-Newman also won a conference double-overtime thriller over Catawba to go 2-0 on the week.
Climbing to No. 7 is Lincoln Memorial. The Railsplitters shutout both Queens and Newberry 1-0, due in part to the efforts of newly-installed SAC AstroTurf Defensive Player of the Week, goalkeeper Ann-Marie O'Connell. The junior played every minute of action and collected five saves.
Rounding out the poll at No. 10 is Lenoir-Rhyne. The Bears had just one match during week, defeating Anderson 2-0. Abbie Brown netted both goals unassisted to overthrow the Trojans.
South Atlantic Conference action continues tonight, Tuesday, October 30, as the SAC Tournament begins at campus sites.
