The South Atlantic Conference Announces AstroTurf Women's Soccer Players of the Week

ROCK HILL, S.C. (TheSAC.com) – The South Atlantic Conference announced its AstroTurf Women's Soccer Players of the Week for matches played during the first week of the season.  Newberry forward Jacqueline Aldrete was named the offensive player of the week, while Newberry defender Courtney Velazquez was named defensive player of the week.

Aldrete, a junior from Oxnard, Calif., recorded her first career hat trick and added an assist for seven points to lead the Wolves to a 6-0 season-opening win over Emmanuel.

Velazquez, a senior from El Cajon, Calif., anchored the Wolves defense that shutout Emmanuel 6-0 last week. She played all 90 minutes and held the Lions to just three shots on goal.
