The South Atlantic Conference Announces Women's Soccer Players of the Week
ROCK HILL, S.C. (TheSAC.com) – The South Atlantic Conference announced its Women's Soccer Players of the Week for matches played during the sixth week of the 2022 season. Tusculum forward Sydney Grant was named the offensive player of the week, while Wingate defender Nicole Cristy was named defensive player of the week.
Grant, a freshman from Schaumburg, Ill., led the Pioneers to a 2-0 record last week including a 2-1 win over Lincoln Memorial. She scored a goal against the Railsplitters and then netted two goals, including the game-winner, in a 5-0 win over Salem in non-conference action. For the week she had three goals and six points.
Cristy, a junior from Indian Trail, N.C., anchored a defense that allowed just one goal in 180 minutes of action last week and led the Bulldogs to a 1-0-1 record with a 1-0 win over Newberry and a 1-1 draw against Lenoir-Rhyne. In addition to leading the defense, Cristy also scored the game-winning goal against Newberry. She finished the week with a goal and two points.
