South Atlantic Conference Announces WePlayed Sports Women's Soccer Players of the Week
ROCK HILL, S.C. (TheSAC.com) – The South Atlantic Conference announced its WePlayed Sports Women's Soccer Players of the Week for matches played during week four of the 2024 season. Lenoir-Rhyne's Evan O'Leary was named the Offensive Player of the Week while Lincoln Memorial's Donna Van Der Zalm brought home Defensive Player of the Week honors.
O'Leary, a senior from Walnut Cove, N.C., helped Lenoir-Rhyne to an impressive 1-0-1 week which included a 1-0 win over Wingate and a 2-2 draw against No. 4 Columbus St. who entered with a perfect 6-0 record. In the two matches, O'Leary assisted on all three of Lenoir-Rhyne's goals to finish with three points. She notched two assists and a shot on goal in the tie with the Cougars and an assist and three shots against Wingate.
Van Der Zalm, a sophomore from Bussum, Netherlands, helped the Railsplitters to a 3-1 win over Coker on Saturday. In the match, she netted a goal on the offensive end and the result pulled LMU into a fourth-place tie in the league standings.
