South Atlantic Conference Announces WePlayed Sports Women's Soccer Players of the Week
ROCK HILL, S.C. (TheSAC.com) – The South Atlantic Conference announced its WePlayed Sports Women's Soccer Players of the Week for matches played during week five of the 2024 season. Wingate's Katherine Ensalaco was named the Offensive Player of the Week while Catawba's Lillie Rusher brought home Defensive Player of the Week honors.
Ensalaco, a sophomore from Mooresville, N.C. was a standout for Wingate in a 3-1 win over Lincoln Memorial last week. In that victory, Ensalaco scored a pair of goals on three shots to help Wingate improve to 5-1-2 overall and 4-1 in SAC play.
Rusher, a senior from Salisbury, N.C., scored the game-winner on a penalty kick and assisted in 17th-ranked Catawba's 5-1 win at Anderson on Saturday. Rusher deposited her second goal of the year, both penalty kicks for the game-winner, while tallying her fourth assist of the season, tying her for third most in the league and tied for the most among defenders in the SAC this season. Rusher also played a pivotal role in a Catawba defense that allowed just three shots on goal on the week to help move them atop the SAC table
