Wingate's Barquero Named South Atlantic Conference Women's Swimmer of the Week

ROCK HILL, S.C. (TheSAC.com) – The South Atlantic Conference announced its Women's Swimmer of the Week for meets competed in during the second week of the season. Wingate's Marta Beesmans Barquero was named the swimmer of the week.

Barquero, a sophomore from Madrid, Spain, helped lead the Bulldogs to a second place finish as a team at the Ohio Invitational. Individually, she won the 200 backstroke with a time of 2:01.75 and placed second in the 100 backstroke with a time of 57.10. She was also a member of three medal winning relay teams; placing second in the 400 freestyle relay (3:28.93), second in the 400 medley relay (3:50.23), and third in the 200 medley relay (1:47.47).
