All-American Honors Won Through First Full Day of 2024 NCAA DII Swimming & Diving Championships
GENEVA, OHIO – Between Tuesday's 800 Freestyle Relays and Wednesday's first full day of events, the SAC has collected one All-American and five honorable mention All-American performances.
The Wingate women kicked off the 2024 championships in Tuesday's evening session with All-American honors after finishing fifth in the 800 Freestyle Relay. The team of Nina Azirovic, Amanda Wenhold, Nadia Kertynska and Lucie Andrews posted a time of 7:19.32, shaving nearly six seconds off their seed time. The Wingate men also competed in the event, as the team of Damir Ipkaev, Gabriel da Costa, Miguel Marcos and Anton Witzell finished the event with a time of 6:31.33 for 10th place to earn an honorable mention All-American nod.
On Wednesday, Wingate's Miguel Marcos finished 10th in the men's 1000 Freestyle with a time of 9:10.06, earning honorable mention All-American recognition.
Carson-Newman's Kyla Blakemore, Breanna Belcher, Chrisman Rand, and Kennadi King swam the women's 200 Medley Relay in 1:41.49, earning a 10th place finish. Wingate's Vera Karlsson, Amanda Wenhold, Hana Kubalova, and Lucinda Andrews finished close behind in 13th with a time of 1:41.89. With a top-16 finish, both relays were named honorable mention All-Americans.
In the men's 200 Medley Relay, Carson-Newman finished 11th and earned honorable mention All-American status as the team of Daniel Ribeiro, Asger Hartvig, Daniel de Oliveira, and Arthur Gluzman touched the wall at 1:26.98.
Through event 10 on the women's side, Wingate sits at No. 11 and Carson-Newman at No. 18 overall. Through event 11 for the men, Wingate sits at No. 18 and Carson-Newman at No. 22.
