Wingate’s Morgan Winston Named Women’s Tennis Player Of The Week

ROCK HILL, SC -- Wingate University's Morgan Winston has been named the South Atlantic Conference Women's Tennis Player of the Week for the week ending March 14, announced conference officials Tuesday.

Winston, a freshman from Lawrenceville, Ga. (Greater Atlanta Christian HS), won her number three singles and number three doubles match Saturday, as the 39th-ranked Bulldogs picked up a league win at defending conference champion Lincoln Memorial. Winston notched a 6-2, 6-2 win over Alexandra Granger in number three singles, while teaming with Olivia Poole for an 8-1 victory over Shena Joseph and Melanie Smith in number three doubles, as the Bulldogs improved to 11-1 overall and 2-0 in the SAC.

In a 9-0 victory over Kutztown of Pennsylvania on Wednesday, Winston defeated Tess Wright, 6-0, 6-0 at number three singles.
