Mars Hill’s Pinate Named Women’s Tennis Player Of The Week

ROCK HILL, SC -- Mars Hill College's Erika Pinate has been named the South Atlantic Conference Women's Tennis Player of the Week for the week ending April 4, announced conference officials Tuesday.

Pinate, a junior from Caracas, Venezuela, did not lose a set in No. 1 singles or doubles during the previous week and led Mars Hill to 5-4 wins over Tusculum and Catawba.

Pinate defeated Tusculum's Courtney Conley, 6-3, 6-1 on Tuesday. She defeated Catawba's Kasia Zielinski, 6-0, 6-3 on Friday.

In doubles action, she partnered with Anna Rickenbaker to defeat Tusculum's Courtney Conley and Taylor Patterson, 8-2. She partnered with Ona Jane to defeat Catawba's Kasia Zielinski and Nicole Boyle, 8-0.

Pinate is 9-2 overall on the season in singles action and is ranked No. 16 in the Southeast Region in the most recent ITA rankings.
