ROCK HILL, S.C. - The third-seeded Tusculum Pioneers and fourth-seeded Brevard Tornados advanced to the semifinals of the 2012 Food Lion South Atlantic Conference Championship with sizeable victories at the Rock Hill Tennis Center on Thursday.

With two close doubles wins, Taylor Patterson's
victory at No. 4 singles gave the Pioneers a pass to the
semifinals, where they will face No. 2 Anderson on Friday
morning.
Tusculum's Holly Verner and Katelyn Doss at No. 1 and Megan Buckmaster and Kate Hutchinson at No. 3 each earned 8-6 doubles wins to earn crucial points there. Courtney Conley and Taylor Patterson at No. 2 earned an 8-4 win to stake the Pioneers out to a 3-0 lead entering singles play.
Hutchinson cruised to a 6-2, 6-0 win at No. 5 singles and Patterson's 7-5, 6-2 win at No. 4 ended the match with the Pioneers' five wins.

Aided by two Mars Hill forfeits, the Tornados advanced to the
semifinals to face No. 1 Wingate on Friday morning.The two teams
split the two contested doubles matches, with Brevard's Claire
Dillman and Michelle Prata squeaking out an 8-6 win at No. 1 and
Mars Hill's Tatiana Dualiby and Jacqueline Rouquet breezing to an
8-2 win at No. 2.
With a forfeit at No. 6 singles, Brevard now led 3-1 and needed just two singles wins to advance. Jennifer Nyman sprinted to a 6-0, 6-0 win at No. 5 and Prata's 6-2, 6-1 win at No. 3 clinched the victory for Brevard
