Wingate's Verpelli Named South Atlantic Conference AstroTurf Women's Tennis Player of the Week

ROCK HILL, S.C. (TheSAC.com) – Wingate's Michela Verpelli has been named the South Atlantic Conference AstroTurf Women's Tennis Player of the Week for matches played March 4 through March 10, the Conference announced today.

Verpelli, a junior from Milan, Italy, led the No. 19 Bulldogs to a pair of 7-0 victories last week over Limestone and Anderson. Verpelli was perfect in her matches at both No. 1 singles and doubles. She teamed up with partner Alisa Rudenko to win 6-1 against Limestone and 7-5 versus Anderson. Then in singles action, Verpelli picked up a 6-0, 6-1 victory against Limestone and a 4-6, 7-5, 6-2 win versus Anderson. For the year, Verpelli is 6-0 in doubles play and 5-0 in singles action.

This is Verpelli's second Player of the Week selection this season.
