The South Atlantic Conference Announces Astroturf Women's Indoor Track and Field Athletes of the Week
ROCK HILL, S.C. (TheSAC.com) – The South Atlantic Conference announced its AstroTurf Women's Indoor Track and Field Athletes of the Week for events during this past weekend of the 2019-20 season. Tusculum earned the track honors with Nicole McMillen and Lenoir-Rhyne gathered the field honors with Savannah Watkins.
A graduate student distance runner, McMillen broke her own school and SAC record after placing second in the 5000-meter race with a time of 15:53.86. Her converted time of 16:46.16 ranks McMillen seventh in the latest DII 5000-meter rankings. This is McMillen's first Track Athlete of the Week honor this season.
A junior multi-competitor, Watkins, competed in the long jump where she set a school record and placed first overall with a leap of 5.59m (18'-4.25"). She also finished third overall in the women's hurdles with a time of 9.11. This is Watkins first Field Athlete of the Week honor this season.
