Queens' Takes Top Spot in 2021-22 SAC Women's Indoor Track and Field Preseason Poll
ROCK HILL, S.C. (TheSAC.com) – The Queens University of Charlotte Royals have been picked as the favorites to win the 2022 South Atlantic Conference Women's Indoor Track and Field Championship, according to the preseason coaches' poll released today.
The Royals received eight first place votes and 129 points in the preseason poll.
Wingate University earned the second spot with 125 points, while Lenoir-Rhyne University placed third in the poll with 111 points and Anderson University placed fourth with 100 points. Limestone University rounded out the top-five with 94 points in fifth.
Catawba College came in at No. 6 with 75 points, followed by Coker University at No. 7 with 73 points, and Tusculum University placed eighth with 62 points.
Carson-Newman University took the No. 9 spot with 59 points, while Lincoln Memorial University earned the No. 10 spot with 40 points. Newberry College and Mars Hill University rounded out the poll at No. 11 and No. 12 with 32 and 24 points, respectively.
In addition to the preseason poll, the SAC also released the Indoor Track & Field Athletes to Watch list. This list includes the top athletes from each school to keep an eye on during the 2021-22 indoor track & field season. The full list of athletes to watch is listed below by team.
The 2021-22 SAC Indoor Track & Field season gets underway this weekend and will continue until the 2022 SAC Men's and Women's Indoor Track & Field Championship at the JDL Fast Track in Winston-Salem, N.C. Feb. 26-27.
