The South Atlantic Conference Announces AstroTurf Women's Indoor Track and Field Athletes of the Week
ROCK HILL, S.C. (TheSAC.com) – The South Atlantic Conference announced its AstroTurf Women's Indoor Track and Field Athletes of the Week for meets contested during the first week of the indoor track & field season. Wingate's Gemma Rebollo earned the track honor and Queen's Lucy Walliker earned the field honor.
Rebollo, a freshman distance runner from Molina de Segura, Spain had her indoor track debut as a Bulldogs and posted a NCAA Division II provisional qualifying mark with a time of 17:00.61 in the 5000 meters at the Grand Valley State Holiday Open. This is Rebollo's first Track Athlete of the Week honor this season.
Walliker, a senior multi from Ugborough, England took first place in the pentathlon at the Bast Cregger Invite with a total of 3,113 points, while also setting a new personal record in the event. This is Walliker's first Field Athlete of the Week honor this season.
