Lenoir-Rhyne Takes Top Spot in 2022-23 SAC Women's Indoor Track and Field Preseason Poll
ROCK HILL, S.C. (TheSAC.com) – The Lenoir-Rhyne Bears have been picked as the favorites to win the 2023 South Atlantic Conference Women's Indoor Track and Field Championship, according to the preseason coaches' poll released today.
The Bears received eight first place votes and 128 points in the preseason poll.
Wingate earned the second spot with four first place votes and 124 points, while Anderson placed third in the poll with 101 points and Carson-Newman placed fourth with 96 points. Limestone rounded out the top-five with 90 points in fifth.
Catawba came in at No. 6 with 89 points, followed by Lincoln Memorial at No. 7 with 69 points, and Tusculum placed eighth with 67 points.
Coker took the No. 9 spot with 58 points, while Newberry earned the No. 10 spot with 48 points. Mars Hill and Emory & Henry rounded out the poll at No. 11 and No. 12 with 29 and 19 points, respectively.
In addition to the preseason poll, the SAC also released the Indoor Track & Field Athletes to Watch list. This list includes the top athletes from each school to keep an eye on during the 2022-23 indoor track & field season. The full list of athletes to watch is listed below by team.
The 2022-23 SAC Indoor Track & Field season gets underway this weekend and will continue until the 2023 SAC Men's and Women's Indoor Track & Field Championship at the JDL Fast Track in Winston-Salem, N.C. Feb. 25-26.
