Lenoir-Rhyne's Brown Named 2023 SAC Women's Indoor Track & Field Athlete of the Year

ROCK HILL, S.C. (TheSAC.com) – Lenoir-Rhyne's Alexis Brown has been named the 2023 South Atlantic Conference Women's Indoor Track and Field Athlete of the Year, the Conference office announced on Friday (March 24).

Brown, a freshman sprinter from Mableton, Ga., became the first individual athlete in Lenoir-Rhyne history to win an NCAA Indoor Track & Field National Championship when she clocked the fasted 200-meter dash time (23.26 seconds) at the 2023 NCAA Division II National Championship. In addition to winning the national championship, Brown earned All-American honors in the 60-meter dash with a 7.36 second performance and a fourth place finish.

Brown also had an outstanding showing at the SAC Indoor Track & Field Championship, earning SAC Women's Indoor Track & Field Freshman of the Year honors, while winning the 60-meter dash and the 200-meter dash. Brown was also named the 2023 USTFCCCA Southeast Region Women's Indoor Track Athlete of the Year.

The SAC Women's Indoor Track and Field Athlete of the Year award is determined by a vote by the league's head coaches.
