The South Atlantic Conference Announces AstroTurf Volleyball Players of the Week

ROCK HILL, S.C. (TheSAC.com) – The South Atlantic Conference announced its AstroTurf Volleyball Players of the Week for matches played from Sept. 24 through Sept. 30. Lenoir-Rhyne swept the honors with Angelica Arroyo garnering the Player of the Week award, while Helen Hamilton was named Specialist of the Week.

A senior outside hitter, Arroyo helped the Bears extend their winning streak to five with a pair of outstanding performances in conference sweeps of Tusculum and Lincoln Memorial. The San Juan, P.R. native totaled 31 kills (5.17 per set) on a .338 average, 11 digs, four block assists, two assists, and a service ace in just six sets of action. In the match versus the Pioneers, Arroyo collected 18 kills on just two errors and hit for a .457 percent. This is Arroyo's first Player of the Week honor in 2018.

Hamilton, a freshman setter, led the Bears to a perfect 2-0 week in SAC play by posting a double-double of 38 assists and 11 digs in the three set match against Tusculum. In all six sets of action, the Greensboro, N.C. native compiled three kills, 74 assists (12.33 per set), 18 digs, and four block assists. This is Hamilton's first Specialist of the Week honor of the season.
