Lincoln Memorial Sweeps AstroTurf Volleyball Players of the Week Honors

ROCK HILL, S.C. (TheSAC.com) – The South Atlantic Conference announced its AstroTurf Volleyball Players of the Week for matches played from Oct. 8 through Oct. 14. Lincoln Memorial swept the honors with Rylee Storms garnering the Player of the Week award, while Erica Whiteaker was named Specialist of the Week.

A junior right side hitter, Storms led the Railsplitters to a perfect 3-0 week, dropping only two sets in the process. The Grand Rapids, Mich. native finished the week with 35 kills on only nine errors, six assists, one service ace, 28 digs, and eight total blocks in wins over Carson-Newman, Queens, and Catawba. This is Storms's first Player of the Week honor in 2018.

Whiteaker, a senior defensive specialist, surpassed the 2,000 career dig mark with her 80 digs on the week, becoming the first Railsplitter ever to do so. Along with the digs, the Kingston Springs, Tenn. native contributed 18 assists and eight aces. She is currently ranked fifth in the NCAA in digs per set, second in the SAC in digs and digs per set, third in aces per set, and fifth in total aces. This is Whiteaker's first Specialist of the Week honor of the season.
