WePlayed Sports Volleyball Players of the Week Announced for Week Seven

ROCK HILL, S.C. (TheSAC.com) – The South Atlantic Conference announced its WePlayed Sports Volleyball Players of the Week for matches played during week seven of the 2024 season. Anderson's Ellie Nieporte was named the Offensive Player of the Week while Mars Hill's Laela Jimenez brought home Defensive Player of the Week honors.

Nieporte, a sophomore from Boca Raton, Fla., has been crucial to the Trojans' 7-game win streak, coming up with 134 assists and an average of 11.17 assists per set in three wins this week. She is leading the SAC in assists per set, averaging 10.27. She tacked on five blocks and five kills on the week. She handed out 60 assists in a five-set win over Emmanuel and had 43 against Coker and 31 against Newberry.

Jimenez, a junior from Naples, Fla., helped the Lions to a 2-0 week with wins over Limestone and UVA Wise. In the pair of victories, Jimenez had 65 digs, good for 7.22 per set. She tallied 38 in a five-set win over Limestone and added 27 more in a four-set win over the Cavaliers. For the week, she added eight assists and two aces.
