Lenoir-Rhyne University Wins First SAC Women’s Cross Country Championship
CHAPIN, S.C. - Lenoir-Rhyne University claimed the 2008 South Atlantic Conference Women's Cross Country Championship held on Saturday morning at the Crooked Creek Park. It was the first women's SAC cross country championship in school history.
The Bears had 32 points to top runner-up Wingate University, which had 63 points.
Carson-Newman's Aubrey Morris earned SAC Women's Runner of the Year honors for the second year in a row, as she covered the 5k course in a time of 18:35. She finished thirty-nine seconds ahead of Kate Griewisch, of Lenoir-Rhyne University, who was second at 19:14.

The top seven finishers earned first team All-SAC honors, while
the next seven were named second team All-SAC. Joining Morris and
Griewisch on the All-Conference First Team are: Alycia Andrade,
Brevard College; Gennilee Eisenmann, Lenoir-Rhyne; Olivia Jacobs,
Catawba; Amber Hines, Wingate and Tiffany Payne, Lenoir-Rhyne.
The All-Conference Second Team consists of: Angela Woodward, Mars
Hill; Alicja Dembna, Tusculum; Jacque Thompson, Catawba; Alyssa
Lowe, Lenoir-Rhyne; Bekah Peeler, Lenoir-Rhyne; Mary-Kathryn
Preble, Wingate and Ashley Condrey, Wingate.
Griewisch is the SAC Freshman of the Year following her
second-place finish. Joining Griewisch on the All-Freshman team are
Jacobs of Catawba, Payne of Lenoir-Rhyne, Woodward of Mars Hill and
Sofia Lopez-Mimendi from Lincoln Memorial University.
Lenoir-Rhyne head coach Jason Stewart, who guided the Bears was named women's cross country Coach of the Year.
