Wingate's Schierl Named South Atlantic Conference AstroTurf Women's Cross Country Runner of the Week

ROCK HILL, S.C. (TheSAC.com) – The South Atlantic Conference announced its AstroTurf Women's Cross Country Runner of the Week for meets competed in during the fifth week of the 2021 season. Wingate's Finja Schierl was named runner of the week.

Schierl, a freshman from Darmstadt, Germany and three-sport standout, was named the USTFCCCA National Athlete of the Week after competing in the D2 National Preview at the Abbey Golf Course and Driving Range on Saturday. Schierl posted a school-record 6K time of 21:22.0 during her first official NCAA cross country meet. Schierl helped Wingate finish first in the 10-team field.
