The South Atlantic Conference Announces AstroTurf SAC Women's Basketball Player of the Week, Feb. 6

ROCK HILL, S.C. (TheSAC.com) – Wingate forward Danasia Witherspoon has been named the AstroTurf South Atlantic Conference Women's Basketball Player of the Week for games played Jan. 30-Feb. 6, the League announced today.

Witherspoon, a sophomore from Hickory, N.C., averaged 18.5 points, five rebounds and two blocks per game to lead the Bulldogs to a 2-0 record in South Atlantic Conference play last week.  Her biggest game of the week came on Feb. 4 as she posted 20 points on 71 percent shooting to go along with four boards, two assists and two blocks in Wingate's 71-69 win at No. 5 Lincoln Memorial on Feb. 4.  Against Newberry on Feb. 1, Witherspoon posted 17 points, six rebounds, two blocks and a steal to guide the Bulldogs to a 61-54 win over the Wolves.  The honor is her first Player of the Week selection this season.
