The South Atlantic Conference Announces AstroTurf SAC Women's Basketball Player of the Week, Feb. 13

ROCK HILL, S.C. (TheSAC.com) – Newberry guard Nicola Handreck has been named the AstroTurf South Atlantic Conference Women's Basketball Player of the Week for games played Feb. 6-12, the League announced today.

Handreck, a junior from Heywood, Victoria, averaged 21.5 points per game and totaled 17 rebounds to lead the Wolves to a pair of South Atlantic Conference wins last week, including a win over then No. 8 Lincoln Memorial on Feb. 11.  Against the Railsplitters, Handreck poured in 22 points to go along with 10 rebounds and two assists in a 56-52 win.  She got her week going with 21 points, seven rebounds, four assists and three steals as Newberry defeated Catawba 61-41 on Feb. 8.  The honor marks her first Player of the Week nod this season.
