The South Atlantic Conference Announces AstroTurf SAC Men's Basketball Player of the Week, Jan. 25
ROCK HILL, S.C. (TheSAC.com) – Carson-Newman guard Charles Clark has been named the AstroTurf South Atlantic Conference Men's Basketball Player of the Week for games played Jan. 18-24, the League announced today.
Clark, a sophomore from Murfreesboro, Tenn., averaged 26.5 points per game, including 30 points in a win over Newberry to spur the Eagles to a pair of South Atlantic Conference wins last week. At Newberry on Jan. 24, Clark poured in 22 points in the second half and 11 points in the final six minutes to lead the Eagles back from a 21 point deficit and pick up a 91-89 win. He also came away with eight rebounds to go along with five assists and four steals in the win. Clark got his week started with 23 points on 53 percent shooting and 50 percent from downtown as Carson-Newman downed Anderson 67-59 on Jan. 21. The guard came away with three steals, dished out one assist and notched one board win the win over the Trojans. Clark leads the South Atlantic Conference with 20.7 points per outing and tops the League with 114 made free throws this season. The award is his first Player of the Week plaudit this season.
