The South Atlantic Conference Announces AstroTurf SAC Men's Basketball Player of the Week, Feb. 8
ROCK HILL, S.C. (TheSAC.com) – Carson-Newman guard Charles Clark has been named the AstroTurf South Atlantic Conference Men's Basketball Player of the Week for games played Feb. 1-7, the League announced today.
Clark, a sophomore from Murfreesboro, Tenn., had a big week for the Eagles as he averaged 29 points per game and shot 60 percent from the field in a pair of League wins last week. He got his week started with a career-high 39 points, a 70 percent stroke from the field, 3-of-4 from downtown and a perfect 8-of-8 from the line in a 104-88 win at Mars Hill on Feb. 3. He also chipped in seven rebounds, five assists and five steals in the win. Three days later against Catawba, Clark stayed hot with 19 points, including 10-of-10 from the line to go along with seven boards and three steals to lead Carson-Newman to a 91-88 win over the Catawba Indians. Clark leads the South Atlantic Conference with 22.2 points per outing as he has scored 30 or more points in three of his last four contests as the award is his second Player of the Week selection this season.
